Opatija`s long tradition as a convention destination started back in the year 1904 when the Fourth Congress of Austrian Balneologists was organized there. Today, more than 125 years after the first congress, Opatija hosts more than 500 congresses, seminars, various meetings and events each year. Built mainly at the turn of the 20th century, Opatija has remained in complete harmony with nature right up until the present day.

Kings and emperors, writers, philosophers, poets and composers used to stay here – the emperors Franz Joseph and William II, the queen of Romania Elisabeth, then the Empress Sissi, the writers A. P. Chekhov and James Joyce, the ballet dancer Isadora Duncan, and the composers Gustav Mahler and Giacomo Puccini.

Visitors are delighted by the sumptuous beauty of the buildings, by parks providing home to plants from all over the world. Some will remember it for the unique, 12 km-long promenade along the shoreline. Opatija is indeed a destination for all seasons where, alongside the traditional, visitors can find modern hotels, marinas and congress centres. It's a town which is building its present but also its future on its successful congress past.

Hotel Amenities

The Camellia restaurant offers its guests national Croatian dishes prepared with fresh local ingredients. This is the only hotel in Croatia that meets the special 'Croatian indigenous cuisine' standard, which is a guarantee that exclusively Croatian dishes are served here. Homemade desserts and cakes are on offer in Opatija's oldest café – the Café Grand.

The wellness oasis of the Grand Hotel 4 Opatijska Cvijeta can be best described as creating an ideal counterpoint to the fast pace of the stressful daily routine. The wellness & spa centre of the Grand Hotel 4 Opatijska Cvijeta stretches over two floors and has an ideal position alongside the Lungomare seafront promenade.

A wireless network will be available throughout the whole hotel area and will be free of charge.

Congress Centre

The modern convention centre of the Milenij Grand Hotel 4 opatijska cvijeta can accommodate up to 1,000 delegates and includes seven multi-functional, multi-purpose halls and meeting rooms, separate from the hotel's other facilities.

At the entrance on the ground floor is a business centre and the Lavender halls, covering a total area of 156 m², that can be rearranged into smaller meeting rooms as necessary.

The largest hall, the Orchid, has capacity for 400 delegates and is located on the second floor. Its seats are permanently arranged in the layout of a theatre. Coffee breaks can be organised right in front of the hall.

The Mimosa halls are located on the third floor and consist of three areas that can be connected into one total area of 271 m². The large area in front of the hall is suitable for cocktail parties, coffee breaks, or gala dinners. Parties can be organised at the pool.

The convention centre is fully equipped with the latest audio-visual equipment and is ideal for smaller or mid-sized meetings, seminars or presentations.

Guests have at their disposal the hotel's garage and outdoor parking spaces in front of the hotel.
