How to Get There?

Recommendation

We recommend participants to use the Zagreb airport for arrivals / departures.

Special shuttle buses will be organized from Zagreb airport to the Conference venue in Opatija and back to the Zagreb airport. The average price (per person per direction) will be about 35 EUR and should be paid directly to the bus driver.  

The organizers will try to help in organizing the transfer from some other airports as well, but the price may vary significantly depending on distance to the hotel and also on the number of people at the shuttle. Please be aware to book your flights before finishing the registration process and buying the tickets for the conference because, you will need to fulfill data about flight numbers, what is important for organizing the transfer.

Travel to Opatija from the airports

Zagreb

A shuttle travels from the airport to the Zagreb main bus station every half an hour.

From here you can take a bus to Rijeka or Opatija. Buses from the Zagreb main bus station in Rijeka are very frequent (starting from 7:30 AM every 90 mins), some of these buses proceed further to Opatija. Buses from Rijeka to Opatija are also very frequent.

Pula

You can take a taxi or a bus to the Pula main bus station. From here buses travel to Rijeka and Opatija.

Ljubljana

You can take a shuttle to Ljubljana main bus station. Once in Ljubljana, you can take a bus to Rijeka.

Trieste

You can take a bus to Trieste. Once in Trieste, you can take a bus to Rijeka or Opatija.

Venice

You can take a shuttle (Fly Bus) to reach Mestre railway station. From Mestre railway station you can take a train to Trieste (See Mestre-Trieste train connections). Once in Trieste, take a bus to Rijeka or Opatija.

By train

Opatija can be reached from the railway station in Rijeka (15 km away; for trains coming from the direction of Zagreb) and the railway station Opatija-Matulji (6km, for trains coming from the direction of Ljubljana.
